Benjamin and the Bear Twins
Marie H Henry
Jennifer Taylor
I must admit to a slight twinge of disappointment in this latest offering from the team that brought us the delightful Brown Bear series. I have to say. though, this was not the reaction of the children. They fell on it, particularly my romantic girls, and it has passed from hand to hand. The illustrations are just as sensitive but this story seems to have lost its delicate touch and become much more overt. Benjamin's difficulties, as he comes to terms with the changes in his life following the appearance of twin sisters, are depicted graphically and his attempts to gain attention become more and more alarming. The story is resolved ... but the adult in me feels uncertain about this book.
